Bukva
Born in Karlovac on 10th of November 1948. By profession he is a machine engineer, but in 1984 he started to paint intensively. Since 1986 he's been a student of prof. dr. sc. Bogomil Karlavaris, an art pedagogue and academic painter. Bukva took courses in drawing and painting, collaborated with different art pedagogues and was active within several art workshops and societies. Currently he's a member of the Art Society "Kozala" in Rijeka. His works in oil, watercolours and pastel drawing granted him the opportunity to be the art editor and illustrator of several books. The themes of his artwork range from littoral landscapes, acts and dead nature to more significant works of abstract and expressive character. Drawing and graphics are techniques he also experimented with. He's been a member of SOROS since the 18th of may 1995. In the period from 9th of March to 31st of December 1998 he worked as a member of the Artist Club "Cock" and organized the painting part of the event "Mont mart in Rijeka", held on Trsat. Together with other artists he organized, opened and kept several painting exhibitions in coffee shops San Antonio, Trsatica, Jelušić, Street twenty-five exhibitions were organized with the participation of thirty-four painters. Till now he participated in 107 collective and 30 independent exhibitions in Rijeka, as well as outside it. His other interests include esoteric, theosophy and writing. He writes prose, poetry, and haiku and has seven books behind him. He is a winner of several prizes and acknowledgements.
